Although the worst of the global pandemic is apparently behind us, some unlikely trickle down effects are causing problems in the barbecue sauce world for us little guys. Plastic is in short supply.

When COVID hit, supply chains became screwed up worldwide. This affected plastics production along with most everything else. Then add in the winter storm that hit Texas in February, which shut down many petroleum based plants, and we have an even bigger problem. According to this article in the Harvard Business Review, it may take up to a year to get everything in the plastic supply chain back in balance.

What does this have to do with Swamp Boys BBQ Sauces? It means your favorite retail store may run out for a bit. It means that there are going to be times when we can’t get plastic bottles. It means sometimes when we can get plastic bottles, they may look different than our traditional bottle. It means our glass jars and lids may change – and they have. All nightmares for brands that count on continuity.

Thanks for your patience while we work through some changes. It’s frustrating to not be able to provide our products to everyone who wants it. But we’re trying. And like the rest of the world, we are really looking forward to life being back to normal again. Please stay with us and thanks for your continued support.

Is there a barbecue sauce that tastes so amazing that it helps win professional bbq championships all across the world, and is a healthier alternative to most other barbecue sauces? Yes there is!!

Since the beginning, every Swamp Boys BBQ product has been All Natural, Gluten Free, and contains No HFCS. We use simple ingredients and are proud of our clean label. Publix Supermarkets recognized this early on when we were brought into their stores by tagging Rub’s Original BBQ Sauce with their leaf tag, signifying that “…it is made without artificial preservatives, flavors, or colors…”.

Now it looks as though they are introducing a new tag, “made without”, indicating the product is made without certain ingredients. It has a link to their website where they discuss helping the customer reach their wellness goals by avoiding certain ingredients. It also discusses the requirements to meet their strict in-house “GreenWise” product line, which our sauce also meets. To be clear, we are not labeled as a GreenWise product. But we do meet the criteria.

So the next time you’re buying some barbecue sauce, please consider ours. Not only does it have a great taste that’s loved the world over, it’s also a healthier choice! Not to mention you’ll be supporting a very small family  business. Thank you!

Cold weather (59°!!) hits central Florida tomorrow, so tonight was the perfect time to make one of our favorite dishes, brisket stew. This was some fantastic Australian Wagyu A+9 brisket from The Butcher Shoppe in Pensacola FL. I usually have a couple pounds left over after each contest and that’s what I used here. Nothing fancy, super easy, quick, and tasty.

Ingredients:

  • 2lbs cubed brisket and au jus
  • Beef stock + 16oz water
  • 1 bag coin/crinkle cut carrots – missed the picture
  • 4 red skin potatoes, chunked
  • 2 cans corn, drained
  • large can of Glory green beans + half the liquid
  • 1 can fire roasted diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 c Swamp Boys Original BBQ Sauce
  • 1/4 c Swamp Boys Bootleg Red BBQ Sauce
  • Kosher salt and fresh pepper to taste

Start the potatoes and carrots simmering in the broth and water for about 10 minutes. Add everything else, return to simmer for 10 minutes. Serve it up and get comfortable.

Notes:

  • make it tastier by grilling or roasting your own whole carrots, potatoes, corn on the cob, and fresh green beans. Then chunk, dice and slice.
  • The Swamp Boys Original and Bootleg sauces bring a fantastic flavor and complexity to the stew

I’m proud to announce that (to the best of my knowledge) all of the Florida Publix markets with the Florida Local end cap now have Swamp Boys Original BBQ Sauce in stock! That’s nearly 500 stores! We are so blessed and thankful to be given this opportunity to get our sauce in front of the public with the help of Publix and our independent retailers.

Florida Local End Cap

If your Publix does not have the Florida Local end cap, you can speak with the store manager and ask them to order it in for you. They are happy to do this. Here is the information you need to give them: SKU#244988 and UPC# 86876300022. Our goal is to eventually be in every Publix including the ones without the Florida Local end caps, so any help you can give is greatly appreciated. #SwampBoysNation

Swamp Boys in Publix Florida Local program

It has been a long process but I am proud to announce that you can now buy Swamp Boys Original BBQ Sauce at selected (205) Publix stores. Publix invited us to take part in their “Florida Local” program which showcases smaller Florida based food companies. Look for us on the Florida Local end cap. And if your Publix doesn’t currently have it, just ask the manager to order it in for you. They will be happy to. Even if you don’t live in Florida, and Publix now has the ability to order it in.

08/10 EDIT: The map is offline. Usage was exceeded and they disabled it. I will be working to create a new map that will not have this problem. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Here is a link to a map showing the Publix stores carrying it (green markers), current independent retailers (red markers), and online only retailers (yellow markers). Zoom in and click on the marker nearest you for more information, or find your city on the list. And thanks for being a key part of the Swamp Boys Nation!
