The Team

The Swamp Boys team is comprised of 5 key players. Amy, Robin, Tammy and myself are Special Ed teachers working at the same school for the past 20+ years, and have been best friends for as long. Woody gave up the adventurous life of a carnie to work in the insurance field; go figure.

Meet the team:

Pitmaster/Webmaster – Rub

I do the competition end and cook food for vending. From set up to tear down and points in between. Am also prone to breaking things like necks and ankles.

Public Relations/Box Assistant/Treasurer – Amy
Amy is my best friend, wife, and head of sales. She helps me build boxes, keeps me on schedule, and takes care of the books. Don’t piss her off.

Public Relations/DD – Robin
Robin is the tireless front line sales woman who never needs a break, and is also our all important designated driver. She is also an expert putting green artist, and has won the coveted Employee of the Month award more times than Sponge Bob. Where hell fudge!

Public Relations/Hospitality – Tammy
Tammy tirelessly works the front line along side her  big sister, and is our Ms. Congeniality. Unless she’s running lead on a box run at The Jack, then all bets are off. Move people – coming through!

Corn Guru/Box Runner – Woody
Woody brings extensive carnie knowledge with him, having lived the rough life on the road from age 14 until 3 years ago when he and Tammy met and fell in love at the Tilt-O-Whirl in Gibsonton FL. He can set up and tear down our site quicker than it takes The Fat Lady to grow a 5 o’clock shadow.

  2. Rub,

This is Craig Cardell (The Right Stuff BBQ). Could you please send me your phone number. I wanted to ask about upcoming classes. I saw you had one in November but I can’t attend that one.

    Thanks,
    Craig

  3. Email sent. If it gets snagged in your spam filter, my number is also on my site at http://www.swampboys.com

  4. Hey Rub
Took your class years ago and even sold your rub & sauces here in Canada (did not work out,too expensive to get it here) Quick question, what size Deep South Smoker do you use in competition? I have the GC28 but find it a little short on space. Would the GC36 be enough of a move up or should a person go right to the GC42? Also what do you think of “The Compound”? I guess that is more than one question! Regards

  5. Hi Rob,
I was using the GC 36 which would do the job. But if the 42 is in the budget, I would definitely go that route. You’ll never regret having more room.
    Best,
    Rub

  6. Hi Team,

I was wondering if there was a way to place an out-of-state order for some sauces. I currently live in CT and can’t find your sauces in any stores.

    Thanking you in advance,
    James

  7. Thanks for writing James. We have an online store you can order from. It can be found here: store.swampboys.com
    Thanks,
    Rub

  8. Hello,
My name is Dane Anderson and I am starting a subscription box service, Celebrate States. I am in Orlando and the first box will feature products from Florida based small and family businesses. (I am also a previous special- ed teacher and still work with education programs). I am interested in speaking to you regarding us featuring Swamp Boys products in the Florida box that will go out, nationwide, to every person that signs up for the service. Not only will your products be distributed, but you will be featured on our website and social media channels. I am in the midst of getting ready to launch and looking for just the right partners. I think Swamp Boys would be a great addition to the boxes. the website is not near finished but you can check it, out at http://www.celebratestates.com. Soon,we will have blogs and featured local businesses with photos of sample boxes, etc. Would you have time, this week for a phone call or in person meeting? Please respond to dane@celebratestates.com to let me know.
I look forward to talking with you – Dane
